NDIS Funding: Conditions and Limitations

Counselling through NDIS is funded within your NDIS plan. Important considerations include:

  • Sessions must align with your approved supports and goals in your plan

  • Counselling may be time-limited or capped based on your plan funding

  • Not all plans include funding for counselling — eligibility must be confirmed with your NDIS planner or support coordinator

  • Sessions are focused on emotional wellbeing and skill-building, not formal psychological assessments or diagnoses

  • Self-managed participants pay directly and are reimbursed by the NDIS, while plan-managed participants have their invoices sent to their Plan Manager

  • I may need to view all or relevant parts of your NDIS plan to ensure counselling sessions align with your approved supports and funding

I can work with you to ensure sessions fit your NDIS plan, but it is important to understand that funding and coverage may have limitations.

How Counselling Can Help

NDIS counselling can assist participants to:

  • Process difficult emotions safely and effectively

  • Build coping strategies for stress, anxiety, or depression

  • Develop resilience and confidence in daily life

  • Explore and strengthen social and relational skills

  • Address trauma in a trauma-informed, evidence-based framework

  • Integrate somatic awareness practices for emotional and physical wellbeing

A Safe and Compassionate Space

Counselling provides a confidential, non-judgemental environment where NDIS participants can:

  • Express their thoughts, feelings, and experiences freely

  • Explore triggers, emotional patterns, and coping strategies

  • Develop skills for managing anxiety, stress, or depression

  • Receive trauma-informed guidance tailored to individual needs

  • Access a wheelchair-accessible practice

Your experience and wellbeing are the focus of every session.
