About

Hi, I’m Darrell
I’m a qualified, registered counsellor based in Mandurah, WA, passionate about supporting people through life’s challenges with empathy, care, and understanding.

Why This Work Matters to Me

I know how difficult it can be to find someone you trust with your story — especially when the words and emotions don’t come easily. In the same way that I once needed a patient, compassionate counsellor, I now aim to provide that same care and support to my clients.

Who I Support

I work with individuals, couples, and families experiencing grief, trauma, relationship struggles, and mental health challenges. My practice offers a safe, supportive space where you can feel heard, understood, and empowered to heal.

My Promise to You
I am committed to walking alongside you and, though counselling can sometimes feel challenging, you’ll always have my full attention, care, and support in the safety of my therapy space.

How my journey began

I arrived in Perth from the UK in 2003, with my fiancé, full of hope and curiosity for this new chapter. I threw myself into community life, volunteering wherever I could, and relished the excitement of preparing to welcome our first child. Life felt full of promise — until, in 2004, our daughter Elizabeth, was stillborn. That catastrophic moment changed everything. The grief was profound, and yet it slowly opened a door to a new kind of purpose.

Finding Purpose Through Loss

After about 18 months,  I became a volunteer peer mentor and telephone support worker with SIDS n Kids (now Red Nose). Sitting with other parents in the darkest moments of their lives, listening without judgment, and sharing in their courage showed me the power of presence, compassion, and human connection. It was through these experiences that counselling first called to me — a way to support others navigating loss, trauma, and the complexities of life.

Life, Family and Learning Along the Way

Life continued to unfold with both beauty and heartbreak. I experienced birthing 2 live children and sadly, 2 further miscarriages, each one reshaping my understanding of grief, hope, and resilience. Alongside these personal losses, I built a life filled with family, volunteering, and my work as a Marriage and Funeral Celebrant — roles that deepened my empathy, listening skills, and understanding of life’s transitions. Throughout it all, I carried the quiet dream of becoming a counsellor, gradually building the knowledge, experience, and insight that would allow me to help others through their own journeys of healing.

Today, my work is guided by all these experiences — the joys, the losses, and the lessons in between. I understand what it is to feel untethered,  to grieve, and to seek connection again. And I know, from personal experience, how profoundly counselling can help people rediscover steadiness, clarity, and hope in the midst of life’s challenges.
